Edge­lands / Stein­alda & Stelkur

Edgelands is the space between the man made and its environment. It is where you find half built houses, abandoned houses and ditches that might one day become something.

The music groups Stelkur and Steinalda are both composer-led groups of performers who specialize in performing the music of the group's leaders. Guðmundur Steinn Gunnarsson leads the group Steinalda which will perform his work, Contemplations on the utilization of leftovers, which is a memorial of sorts for a gas station that used to be right around where Harpa is. Charles Ross leads the ensemble Stelkur and they will premiere two new pieces, namely New Forest og Ditch Grmphn. He has also written music on top of a movement from Guðmundur Steinn's Landvættirnar fjórar and in this both ensembles and both composers will join forces.
