The grass root blooms in Harpa!
Upprásin, a concert series for the grassroots of Icelandic music life, begins on Tuesday, September 5.

Róshildur, Flaaryr and the virgin orchestra start the new concert series on Tuesday, September 5 in Kaldalón in Harpa. The concert series is dedicated to the grassroots of the Icelandic music scene and is organized by Harpa in collaboration with Reykjavík Music City and Rás 2.
The concerts series will be held monthly on select Tuesday evenings from fall through spring, with each event featuring three musical acts. The musicians come from various genres in music, but all of them have one thing in common: experimental and unrestrained in their creation.
Ticket price for the concert is only 2000 ISK. and during the ticket sales process, people also have the opportunity to directly support the bands with an additional donation.
The cconcert series is a part of implementing Harpa's programming strategy of improving grassroots and young people's access to all musical genres and increasing the variety of events held in Harpa. In addition to supporting the grassroots of Icelandic music life, the goal is also that music enthusiasts will be able to hear a variety of new Icelandic music, directly from the grassroots of the music life, performed regularly under ideal conditions in the nation's music hall.
Well over two hundred applications were received for participation in Uppásin this spring. It was up to the selection committee to decide which musicians would perform, but when choosing the participants, originality and diversity were considered, both when it came to musical styles and performers.
