Do you have an idea?
We're looking for ideas for family-friendly events!

Harpa is calling for creative and fun event ideas from children, families, and artists for the 2025–2026 Winter Family Program.
The family program's events are music-related, diverse, and free of charge. The events take place on average twice a month, and past events have included storytimes and musical journeys with Maxímús Músíkús, musical workshops, sing-alongs, treasure hunts, concerts and performances.
Accessibility is a key focus for Harpa. We especially welcome ideas for events accessible to as many people as possible, such as those that don’t require specific language skills or can be held in multiple languages.
All ideas are welcome, whether they are ready to be realised or still in the early stages.

Strong Emphasis on Children's Culture at Harpa
Harpa places emphasis on children's culture as an important part of fulfilling the cultural and social role of the building. The Family program is key priority, designed to be accessible to all children regardless of financial situation, background, language or home environment and always free of charge.
In recent years, Harpa has hosted around 40 children’s and family events annually, in addition to a festive program during Reykjavík Culture Night, where dozens of events are aimed at families.
Hljóðhimnar is a music-themed discovery and experience space for children on the ground floor of Harpa, which has proven extremely popular. The Iceland Symphony Orchestra also holds open children's sessions and family concerts. Two children's plays are also regularly staged in Harpa, offering a rich variety of educational, entertaining, and inspiring experiences for young audiences.
