Revolta, an Unforgettable Performance in Eldborg

Geneva Camerata was met with thunderous applause and standing ovations following a breathtaking performance of Revolta in Eldborg at Harpa. The show, bursting with imagination and originality, seamlessly blended music, dance, and light, with the orchestra’s musicians stepping into the spotlight as performers through movement and choreography.

The Geneva Camerata, composed of outstanding musicians from around the world, delivered a dynamic and technically superb performance of Battle Zone by Alexandre Mastrangelo and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony. The musicians played without sheet music and danced as they performed, transforming the concert into a fully immersive and physically expressive experience.

Joining the orchestra on stage were hip-hop and krump dancers Melissa, Dexter, Hendrickx, and Grichka, who launched into an electrifying and unexpected sequence of movement. The staging, created by Grichka and Kader Attou, brought together diverse art forms in a powerful and unified whole. Combined with striking lighting design and a bold visual concept, the evening was filled with rhythm, energy, and finesse, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The concert was part of Geneva Camerata’s European tour and marked the orchestra’s first performance in Iceland. The event was presented by Hörpustrengir and formed part of Harpa’s artistic programming.

This was a night to remember — not only for the sheer quality of the performance, but also for the bold vision it offered of what classical music can become when it enters into dialogue with movement and the performing arts.
