The Opera Cup is gearing up for the festival’s grand finale as Team Iceland takes on Team Nordics in a nail-biting opera showdown at Norðurljós in Harpa – one of the top arenas for classical music in Iceland, and even further afield.
Calling the play-by-play is none other than Kolbeinn Tumi – star reporter, die-hard sports commentator, and superfan of classical music. He’ll break down the singers’ performances, grab them for post-match interviews, and he'll be backed up by a dream team of opera experts on the analysis bench.
The crowd isn’t just there to watch – you’ll be part of the action! Fans will have a say in the final score and are urged to cheer, clap, and rally their favorites with every trick in the book. And yes – the bar will be open for those who need a little “liquid inspiration” to keep the energy high.
Opera Days is now scouting for talent: 4–5 Icelandic opera singers and 4–5 Nordic singers to fill the rosters. The starting line-ups will be announced here in the coming weeks.
Don’t sit this one out – follow the latest twists in the world of opera-sports and back your team all the way to victory at Norðurljós, the people’s opera stadium!
