Venue

Ground floor

On the ground floor of Harpa you can enjoy photographs by Kotryna Rukstelyte. The exhibition is open during Harpa's opening hours.

The artist has made the following statement on her exhibition.

"These photographs explore feminism through softness and persistence. The translucent layers evoke how women’s identities have often been obscured or restrained, yet continue to assert presence beneath the surface. The blurred outlines of both the female forms and the fragile flowers´ forms invite reflection on visibility - suggesting that empowerment can emerge from vulnerability, and that resilience often takes shape in silence. Silence is loud and perceived in the same way as sound.

The flower speaks to the complexity, beauty, and resilience of femininity - whether delicate or fierce, passive or powerful, fleeting or everlasting. Through photographs feminism is explored as an inclusive and evolving space — one that honors the many ways women exist, resist, and flourish.

This series of flowers reflects on the complexity and variety of women, to help breakdown the stereotype of what women should be, whether they are bold or shy, strong or fragile. We are all different, there is no single term that can define a woman. Each of us carries our own meaning, and each of us deserves the freedom to choose who we are."
