My Harpa - photography competition

photography competition among young people this summer.

Harpa and Canon are organizing a photography competition among young people this summer called Mín Harpa (My Harpa). The competition ends with an award ceremony and a photo exhibition in Harpa on Menningarnótt in August.

The idea of the competition is to see Harpa through the eyes of the young people and give them a platform and opportunity to take pictures of the building, of human life, the environment and events.

The competition officially starts with photography workshops in Harpa on Saturday 20 May for the two older age groups. The workshop is hosted by photographer Sigga Ella, who has photographed many of our leading musicians, hosted photography workshops and knows Harpa well. The workshops are free, but the number of participants is limited, so it is important to register.

  • 10-14 years old Photography workshop at 13:00
  • 15-18 years old Photography workshop at 15:00

In the workshop, participants receive a short instruction on photography, image structure and equipment. You go on a tour of Harpa where you learn about the design of the building and you can photograph Harpa from various angles - and even get access to areas with extremely rarely seen angles! At the end, the participants get help choosing the best photos to submit to the competition.

Registration here.

// REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS UNTIL 12:00 FRIDAY MAY 19th //

Participants do not need to own a camera to participate, as Canon in Iceland lends Canon cameras to the participants. However, everyone is free to use the equipment they have, cameras or phones.

You can send inquiries to minharpa@harpa.is.
