Grant Rules

  1. Applicants may be individuals, bands, groups or non-profit organisations.
  2. Applications must be submitted using the Fund’s online application form.
  3. The application budget must specify any other funds to which an application for support for the project has been submitted, or is expected to be submitted at the time of application. The Fund welcomes projects that also receive financial support from other sources.
  4. When assessing applications, the Fund will consider the following:
    • Whether the project is suitable for Harpa and makes good use of the possibilities offered by the venue as a concert hall.
    • Whether the project has the potential to reach new audiences.
    • Whether the application demonstrates that the project is both ambitious and feasible.
    • Whether the project aligns with the Fund’s objective of supporting and promoting a diverse musical programme at Harpa.
  5. The Fund aims to support young musicians in performing at Harpa. Funding must be used to cover venue-related fees and other costs associated with presenting the concert or event.
  6. The Fund does not act as an intermediary in communications or bookings with Harpa. Grant recipients are responsible for paying all applicable fees directly to Harpa. Harpa has no claim against the Fund.
  7. The Fund assumes no financial responsibility for projects that receive funding.
  8. The Fund shall not receive any income from projects it supports. Any financial proceeds generated by a project, for example through ticket sales, should primarily benefit the musicians participating in the project.
  9. The maximum grant awarded to an individual project in each funding round is ISK 1,500,000. This amount represents the maximum available grant and should not be regarded as the standard grant amount. The Fund reserves the right to enter into longer-term funding agreements.
  10. Grants are normally paid following completion of the project. An invoice for the grant amount must be submitted to ylir@ylir.is (mailto:ylir@ylir.is).
  11. The Fund must be acknowledged and its logo displayed in promotional material published or produced in connection with funded projects. Grant recipients must state in communications about the project, including press releases and social media where applicable, that the project is supported by the Fund.
  12. Before the grant is paid, grant recipients must submit a brief project report to the Fund using the form available on the Fund’s website. Where promotional materials or programmes have been produced in connection with the project, the Fund also requests that copies be submitted.
  13. The Board of the Fund reserves the right to withdraw a grant if it determines that the project is unlikely to proceed as planned or that the event will not take place.
  14. The Fund reserves the right to initiate and award grants outside the advertised application process to projects that meet the criteria set out in the Fund’s Articles of Association.
  15. The Fund does not provide individual explanations or feedback regarding decisions on applications.
