The quartet comprises four experienced musicians from the Icelandic jazz scene: Snorri Sigurðarson, Ásgeir Ásgeirsson, Þorgrímur Jónsson, and Erik Qvick. At the concert, the quartet will explore the musical collaboration between trumpeter Art Farmer and guitarist Jim Hall. Their partnership produced a number of memorable recordings in the 1960s, and later when they resumed their musical association. The interplay between Farmer and Hall was characterized by exceptional sensitivity, strong song choices, and ample space for improvisation. “Beint áfram” pays tribute to these two masters of jazz history with their own interpretations of music associated with the duo’s collaboration. As the band’s name suggests, the focus is on traditional straight-ahead jazz, allowing interplay, swing, and improvisation to take center stage. The quartet promises a diverse and vibrant concert in the spirit of Farmer and Hall, while bringing their own distinctive voice to the music.
