Founded in 1992, the Reykjavík Big Band is Iceland's largest ensemble dedicated to rhythmic music. Its repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing both new and innovative Icelandic and international works alongside beloved big band classics, often performed with many of Iceland's most celebrated singers. The orchestra also presents annual concerts for children and families, as well as its popular Big Band Marathon, which brings together big bands from across Iceland—featuring musicians of all ages.

Since 2012, the Reykjavík Big Band has been based at Harpa, where it presents an ambitious and varied concert season each year.
