Sizzling Salsa with Barrio 27 at Harpa on Culture Night

Get ready for an afternoon of irresistible Latin rhythms as Barrio 27, a 16-piece salsa
orchestra, brings the heat to Harpa on Culture Night.

Known for its electrifying performances, vibrant stage presence, and infectious, danceable
repertoire, Barrio 27 performs salsa music rooted in the rich musical traditions of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Colombia.

The band made a major impression at the 2025 Reykjavík Jazz Festival, earning enthusiastic reviews from the international publications Jazz in Europe and All About Jazz. The ensemble was founded by percussionist Alexandra Rós Norðkvist, who is currently studying at Codarts University of the Arts in the Netherlands, specialising in the music of the Caribbean and South America.

One of Barrio 27's main goals is to strengthen social dance culture in Iceland. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy outstanding live music while taking to the dance floor and experiencing the irresistible energy of salsa.
