Grand singer Margrét Eir has in over three decades captivated listeners with her powerful voice, remarkable talent, and undeniable charm and she has long since secured her place as one of Iceland's most accomplished and beloved singers. Her trio will perform a mix of well-known classic and modern jazz pieces, presented with a fresh and understated approach. All of the songs share one thing in common: they originate from musical theatre. The musicals span several decades, with composers including Stephen Sondheim, George and Ira Gershwin, and Cole Porter. Margrét brings special expertise in musical theatre music and guides the audience through the origins of the songs, the characters, and the stories behind each song and musical.
In her extensive career, Margrét has worked with the country’s leading musicians, recorded vocals on numerous albums and performed in concerts, including regular events in venues such as Salurinn, Hof, and Harpa. She has released four solo albums and three with the band Thin Jim and the Castaways, and on several occasions, she has been nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards.
Margrét Eir has performed as an actress and singer on all of the country’s major stages, in some of the most popular musical theatre productions staged in Iceland, including Oliver!, Hair, Mary Poppins, Les Misérables and Chicago, for which she received a Gríma Award nomination. Most recently, Margrét is performing in the Reykjavík Theater Company’s production of Moulin Rouge.
