Harpa received the Nordic Swan Ecolabel in 2022 as a conference hall. The Swan is the official Nordic Ecolabel based on independent certification and criteria that confirm the strict environmental and quality requirements of the operation.
Harpa is committed to taking responsibility for the future and contributing to a better world in any way possible. Environmental protection is built into Harpa´s operations, and sustainability is an integral part of everything Harpa does, a long-term commitment. Harpa has been working to reduce its environmental impact for many years, and in 2022 Harpa received Nordic Ecolabel certification for its conference facilities.
The Nordic Ecolabel is the official ecolabel of the Nordic countries. The Nordic Ecolabel was established in 1989 by the Nordic Council of Ministers as a voluntary environmental label for Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The Swan is a Type 1 ecolabel according to the ISO 14024 environmental certification standard and is one of the founding members of the Global Ecolabelling Network.

The purpose of the Nordic Ecolabel is to promote the sustainable development of society with the benefit of future generations as a guiding principle and to offer consumers a choice of environmentally friendly options. Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, then Minister of the Environment, Energy and Climate, presented the Nordic Ecolabel to Svanhildur Konráðsdóttir, CEO of Harpa.
