How many vocal duets by female composers exist? Are the scores accessible? Who are - and who were - the women who composed this music, and why do we know so few of them? Who was Elísabet Jónsdóttir, Ida Boyle, Camille Chaminade? What do Ingibjörg Azima and Rebecca Clarke have in common?
Join us at the opening recital of Seigla festival featuring stunningly beautiful music rarely performed. The event is at once a concert, an ode to poetry, an informal research project, and a feminist storytelling session, featuring a world premiere of several new vocal duets.
Bryndís Guðjónsdóttir soprano, Guja Sandholt mezzo-soprano and Eva Þyri Hilmarsdóttir pianist have been performing for a long time, but recently began exploring duets for voice by female composers that are buried deep in the worlds music archives.
Performing together, and at times separately, they will present vocal duets, art songs, and piano works by female composers, delve into their stories, highlighting their music.
