Harpa is a concert house of the public. Emphasis is placed on professional ambition and diversity so that the music in the house is a cross section of Icelandic music. The house is also a forum for Icelandic musicians and their music making, as well as the excellent international artists and bands. The house offers high quality acoustics that is suitable for all music. The concert halls are in various sizes and all the facilities of high quality.
Harpa has already welcomed an impressive cast of celebrated musicians and cultural icons to its halls since it’s opening in May 2011. International performers, band, and musical wonders from around the world have made Eldborg hall vibrate. Various music festivals are held regularly including Iceland Airwaves, Reykjavik Midsummer Music, Dark Music Days, Reykjavik Arts Festival, Reykjavik Jazz Festival.
Harpa´s residents, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Icelandic Opera and Reykjavik Big Band nourish the halls with endless music. Múlinn Jazzclub plays weekly and Sunday Classics can be heard regularly through out the year.
The Upbeat and Reykjavík Children’s Culture Festival are annual events and the music loving mouse Maxímús greets the youngest visitors at various occasions.
