Harpa uses the services of Klappir Green Solutions hf. to monitor environmental management data, while other information is drawn from Harpa’s own systems. All data is compiled with care and is regularly reviewed and assessed by Harpa’s staff and management.
With the support of this active environmental management system, Harpa has been able to set measurable efficiency targets and successfully reduce emissions.
Carbon Offsetting
Harpa purchases Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) through the United Nations, which oversees the projects. CER units are only issued for verified climate-friendly projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
All CDM projects take place in developing countries, where they contribute to sustainable development. In order to qualify, projects must meet strict criteria and involve multiple stakeholders, ensuring credibility and long-term impact.
