Trio Ós­kars Guðjóns­son­ar, Jorge Rossy og Thomas Mor­gan

JÓT is a new jazz trio that brings together three of the most influential and creative musicians of their generation: Jorge Rossy, Thomas Morgan and Óskar Guðjónsson. The trio presentis their original compositions and fresh interpretations of jazz standards.

Jorge Rossy is a drummer, vibraphonist, marimbist, pianist and composer who has worked with renowned jazz artists such as Brad Mehldau, John Abercrombie, Dave Binney, Steve Coleman, Tomasz Stanko, Charlie Haden, Wayne Shorter, Lee Konitz, Carla Bley and Joe Lovano. He has also released over 30 albums as a leader or co-leader, and led various bands such as Jordi Rossy Vibes Quintet, Passport Quartet, Rossy & Kanan Quartet, Beck/Landolf/Rossy, Fox + Chris Cheek and Rossy & Vercher Quintet «Filantropía».

Thomas Morgan is a double bass player with a unique approach to the instrument and an exceptional musical understanding. He has recorded and toured all over the world as a member of Paul Motian’s bands, the John Abercrombie Quartet, the Dave Binney Quartet, Steve Coleman and Five Elements, and the Tomasz Stanko New York Quartet, among many others. He has also collaborated with Jakob Bro, Dan Tepfer, Jim Black, John Abercrombie and Masabumi Kikuchi, and released an album in duo with guitarist Bill Frisell, Small Town.

Óskar Guðjónsson is a saxophonist and composer who has been a professional musician since 1991. He has played with many famous jazz musicians, both Icelandic and foreign, and released over 30 albums, either under his own name or in collaboration with others. He has also traveled around the world with different bands and played countless concerts. He was a member of Mezzoforte from 1996 to 2012 and co-founder and member of ADHD, one of the most popular jazz bands in Iceland. He has also composed and played with Skúli Sverrisson, bassist and composer, and founded and played with MOVE, a piano trio that explores its own material with its own approach.

JÓT is a trio that combines the talents, experiences and personalities of these three outstanding musicians, creating a distinctive sound and an aesthetic full of intimate complicity. The trio explores the possibilities of jazz music with creativity, spontaneity and joy, and invites the listeners to join them on a musical journey that is both adventurous and captivating.
